Our Mission

Our mission is to provide Panamanians opportunities and resources to achieve self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.

About Us

The Latin American Relief Network, Inc. (LARN) was incorporated in 2012. We currently focus our work in Panama. Why Panama? The simple explanation is that the LARN founders saw a need in Panama and possess experience and connections there that allow them to help address the need. Having personally witnessed and experienced poverty in Panama, the founders wanted a more lasting and sustainable way to benefit the community than simply packing extra suitcases of used clothing, tools, household goods and toys each time they visit. They also wanted a way for their existing dedicated donors and volunteers to make a greater impact. The idea to become a nonprofit was born several years ago and discussed at length with family, friends, donors and volunteers before becoming a reality in 2012. Read our story to learn more.

Used cardboard boxes were in surprisingly high demand among the locals.  Many people do not have proper dressers or closets for their clothes and cardboard boxes provide some protection from the humidity.  This woman approached LARN volunteers and asked if she could please have one empty box, even if she did not receive anything else. Happily, LARN was able to provide her with both the box and some clothing.  Credit: LARN

LARN is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code. All funds, whether income or principle, and whether acquired by gift or contribution or otherwise, shall be devoted to said purposes.

LARN is managed by a Board of Directors. Our goal is complete transparency. Have questions or think we might be able to do something better? Contact us!  We welcome constructive criticism and suggestions that will help us be more effective and/or help more people.
